We were commissioned by LJ Partnership to transform an underused side road into external amenity space for Canada House tenants. The existing building provides a beautiful setting which meant that a few clever interventions could transform the street into an enjoyable breakout space.
Bang for buck
With a limited budget for this project, we designed a two phase approach to allow the amenity area to be extended when funds become available. By designing a few bold interventions, the external side road was transformed into a social area.
Simple design moves
We defined the space by painting the road surface in a bold colour. A textured timber boundary fence shields the space from adjacent utility. Planting is used as a soft barrier from the road.
